In the Office…Alone.

Apr 2007

This past week I had a unique experience. Being spring break here in Oldham County all of my co-workers went on vacation, and I stayed home. I’m a bit behind on some long range things because of the recent work I have done on our new site, so I thought it would be an excellent opportunity to really buckle down and get some work done with no distractions. Well, while it was, it was also a strangely eerie week. There was no buzz to the office at all. Normally the phone is ringing off the hook and people are stopping by left and right, but this week the phone rang like twice and only the fire inspector came the door for our annual check-up.

As I spent this time in solemn serenity I realized something; without the human contact that I was used to having on a daily basis I was rendered to a totally different mindset. I couldn’t create, I had no one to bounce ideas off of, and I had no one to break the day up for me.

I guess what I’m saying is that many times I have said that working at a church office is often difficult because of all the hustle and bustle, but without this activity the office just isn’t what it should be. I can’t wait for some normalcy to return to my life come Monday morning.
